Herring gulls

Blue Herons

Black Terns. A pair in pothole

Wilson Snipe. Pot Hole area

Killdeer

Canada Geese. 5-6 families that had nested in Basin Harbor. 100-150

Pair of Loons mating. Quite a sight. I had never seen ritual before. Jack Carroll said the two Loons had been along North side of Grenadier all Spring. We saw them about 200 yards out from our cabin. At one point, one of the Loons(probably male) would furiously half-paddle and half fly towards the other Loon about forty yards distant and both would dive underwater as they met. They would reappear a minute or two later, separate and repeat the performance. Hot stuff.

American Merganser...two pair nesting in woods between or cabin and Porter's. seven or eight in Lake by woods. In the morning, two females would fly back and forth on 400 yard circle from nests in woods quacking as they flew

    1. Either a weasel or mink along wall by cabin. Black with no white on belly so, probably, a weasel
