The usual.  Lots of  Hummingbirds.  A Black-billed Cuckoo.  Big year for Grasshoppers & Dragon Flies.  Many  confusing Fall Warblers. Immature Red-Headed Woodpecker, Thrashers, Rose-breasted Grosbecks, Scarlet Tanagers, Cedar Waxwings, Flickers, Swainson Thrush, etc.

May 5th 1984

Old Squaw, Mallards, Blacks, Red Tail, Rough legged Hawks (with mouse), Pintails, Tree, Cliff and Barn Swallows at Mid-Island Pot Hole, Flickers, Robins, Caspian Terns, Pigeons, Crows, Whistlers, Mergansers, Killdeer, Spotted Sandpipers, Brown Trashers, King Fishers, Blue Jays, Broad Bills, Chickadees,  Juncos and Phoebes.

Too many Cormorants...over 150 in front of house.  Osprey circling over house.  5 Night  Hawks and lots of Fall Warblers.

Hundreds of Bank Swallows at the Head...2 days and gone. Mallards, Kingfishers, Hummingbirds, Vireos, lots of confusing Fall Warblers, Blue-winged Teal, Pewees, Cedar Waxwings, Harrier and Red Tails.  Purple Martins gone early in August.

Black and White,  Myrtle Warblers and other Confusing Warblers.  Mid-island pothole over 175 ducks mostly Blue Wing Teal. Some Green Wing Teal, Mallards,

Wood Ducks,   Blacks, Gadwall.  Lesser Yellowlegs and Spotted Sandpipers, Killdeer, Meadowlarks, Downy, 3 Mute Swans, Robins, Hummingbirds, Goldfinches,

Song,  Field Sparrows, Kingbirds, Harrier, Red Tail, Turkey Vultures, Kestrel and Horned Owl.

July 4th 2002

No entry for Memorial weekend.  Much  social life.  Purple Martins left August 15th.  Many  raptors.

Summer of 2003   both Sandy and Wyatt down with Lyme Tick.   Fall..Large hatches of Big Dragon Flies and hundreds of Monarch Butterflies.

July27th 2004

Seeing more deer.  Black-crowned Heron, Mallard with ducklings and Teal w/young at mid-Island pothole.  Purple martins left before Aug. 10th.  Saw 50 -100 Bobolinks

One day and gone the next. Osprey, Eagle, Woodcocks and Whippoorwill.

2005 Memorial Weekend - Went to Scotland.  No entries for the summer.  Purple Martins gone by middle of August and Warblers beginning to migrate south.

2006 Memorial Weekend.  Wyatt recovering from Knee surgery so we didn't come up.

July 3rd.  Osprey, Blue Jays, Phoebe, Purple Martins, Caspian Terns, Ring Bill, Grt Blues, Robin, Pheasant, Catbird, Yellow Warbler, Common and Red-breasted Mergansers, Killdeer, Harrier, Red Tails w/young, wren, Thrasher, Sandpipers, Eastern Kingbird, Canada Geese, Killdeer, Harrier

April 17th-20th

Loons, Buffleheads, Red Br and Common Mergansers, Woodcock, Snipe, Canada Geese, Lesser Scaup (Broad Bills), Swans, Flickers, Mockingbirds, Phoebe, Song and Barn Sparrows, Tree, Barn  Swallows,(Purple Martins not arrived yet), Robins, Cormorants, Thrashers, Red-Winged Blackbirds, Ring Bill Gulls, Common Tern, Juncos, Kingfishers, Cow Birds,  Killdeer.  No Hawk sighting. Went to Scotland for Anne's wedding. No more recordings for 2008.  Too much activity.

2009 Memorial Weekend.

Gang all here and active but not too much bird watching.  Did see BLUE BIRD for 2 days.  Caspian  Terns, Ring Bills and Herring Gulls.  Too many Cormorants

Many  Canada Geese with goslings.  Loon, Killdeer and young, Sandpipers, Tree, Barn and Cliff Swallows, Wrens, Pewees, Towhees, Catbirds, Orioles, Snipe,

Black Billed Cuckoo, Yellow, Blackburnian Warblers, Kingbirds, Bobolinks, Meadowlarks, Robins, Purple Martins, Gadwall, Mallards, Flickers, Woodcock, Red-wing Black Bird. Back the about the 5th of August. Over 200 Tree Swallows on wire and about 50 Cliff Swallows at Johns.  Next day, August 10th all were  gone including the Purple Martins

2010  May.  Gang all here a different times..only bird watching was Wyatt and Sandy. NYDEP and Nature Con. taken around by Wyatt.  Loon, Mallards, Common and Red-breasted Mergansers, Canada Geese and young,   Herring Gulls and Caspian Terns. Late one afternoon with bright blue sky we sighted 100s of Circling Vibrant white Ring-bills (a great sight) in an hour they were all  gone circling North.

Redwings, Robins, Purple Martins, Tree and Cliff Swallows, Pewees, Thrashers, Wrens, Red Tail and Broad-winged Hawks, lots of Bobolinks, Snipes, Meadowlarks, Flickers, Yellow Warblers, Swans, Doves, Blue Jays. King birds, Gold and Purple Finches and Orioles.

June 3rd to 8th

Herring and Ring bill Gulls, Common, Black and Caspian Terns, White Egret high in the sky,  Snipe, Great Blue, Canada Geese, Red-breasted and Common Merganser, Turkey Vultures, Woodcock, Downy, Kingbird, Purple Martins, Tree and Cliff Swallows, Chimney Swifts, White-crowned and Song Sparrow, Wren, Robins, Starlings, Kestral, Red-tail, Dove, Hummingbird, Kingbird, Phoebe, Wren, Meadowlarks, Bobolinks, Catbird, Thrasher, Gold and Purple Finches, Red-winged Blackbirds, Towhee.  This list incomplete
